But this is the year that everything will change for Blue.
This is the year that she will be drawn into the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys. And the year Blue will discover that magic does exist.
This is the year she will fall in love.
My review :
The Raven Boys was a very interesting mysterious book, however I did find it hard to get into at first. It was very hard to understand with the ley lines and the finding Glandower. At the start too many characters were introduced at once making it harder to know what was going on and getting to know the characters. The characters were the best part about the book; they all had different back stories that made them more interesting and seemed to all have something suspicious and strange about them. I think all these characters back stories are going to link together maybe in the next book. Specially Ronan, their is something different and supernatural about him, I think. When I read this book I thought it would go straight into the relationship of Gansey and Blue, but I enjoyed the kind of relationship she had with Adam. The ending I found was very rushed and confusing to understand what was going on. What I thought was the main plot of the book didn't happen, which disappointed me, but made me more excited for the next book. If you haven't read this book then I suggest you do, it is a very interesting read and the plot line is very intriguing. The first 100 pages do drag a bit, but after that the pace picks up.
Spoiler review:
If you've read The Raven Boys then carry on reading this, if not then go read it and then come back. So Blue can't kiss her true love because he will die. That's what had me intrigued to the book. I wanted to know how they would die? How could they overcome this problem? The question I now have after reading the book is: why didn't she kiss Gansey in this book? I was really hopping to see that part of the story come into this book, but it was based more around finding the ley lines and Glandower, which still made it very interesting. I did enjoy seeing their relationship progress through the book, so maybe in the next one it will progress further? Then we have Gansey's group, he does have a strange group of friends. First their was Noah, who was sweet, turned out to be dead. Didn't see that coming. Ronan has this secret about his father's death, which is interesting. Also the trees knew who he was so maybe he has something supernatural going on? Adam, I don't know about him the whole end with him confused me. Then we have Neeve who's disappeared. I think in the next book were going to discover more about these characters and Blue's dads going to come in somewhere? The whole thing with him is weird and suspicious is he really trapped somewhere? Then what about this Glandower? Are they going to find him in the end? What I'm really interested in is when they decide who is going to get the favour? GANSEY BETTER NOT DIE. I want Blue to kiss him but I don't want him to die.
Robyn.
