Book: The Infinite Sea
Author(s): Rick Yancey
Rating

Summary: How do you rid the Earth of seven billion humans? Rid the humans of their humanity. Surviving the first four waves was nearly impossible. Now Cassie Sullivan finds herself in a new world, a world in which the fundamental trust that binds us together is gone. As the 5th Wave rolls across the landscape, Cassie, Ben, and Ringer are forced to confront the Others’ ultimate goal: the extermination of the human race.
Cassie and her friends haven’t seen the depths to which the Others will sink, nor have the Others seen the heights to which humanity will rise, in the ultimate battle between life and death, hope and despair, love and hate.

Review:
This book was surprisingly short, I thought it would be a lot longer, but still, so much happened within the number of pages. This book was so thought provoking and had me gripped from the start to finish. This book was so intense. Their wasn't much action, but when their was it was insane, completely insanely intense, I was so confused and hooked on to reading. The ending had me shocked, a complete plot twist I didn't see coming. The characters and world was fantastic, we found out more about the back stories of other characters and found out where this trilogy is leading in the final book.

WARNING: THE NEXT PART CONTAINS SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE INFINITE SEA OR THE 5TH WAVE THEN DON'T CARRY ON READING.

Spoiler- review:

After the end of the 5th wave we're left wondering whether Evan is alive or not, and what a horrible wait that was! He's alive, only just, but he still has his sacrifice moments throughout the book. It was a miracle that he even survived in the first place, let alone escaping two explosions. I was sad that we didn't get much Evan and Cassie moments, but when we did it was amazing! The banter between them had me smiling, even in that breath taking moment when their trying to remove that bomb. I loved how it ended with them finding each other again. I was so glad we didn't have to wait another book to see if Evan's survived, again.
This book felt like everyone was dying, Ben was on the edge, Evan was always sacrificing himself, poundcake took a load of bullets and ended up activating the bomb and Ringer sacrifices herself and who knows if Teacup is alive or dead. I loved finding out who poundcake is, I have a feeling it was his brother at the start of the book with the explosion, we understood now why he doesn't talk and its just nice to have a backstory. Those children with the bomb planted in their throats and needing co2 to activate had me so shocked and angry, it was so heartbreaking to read. It was so horrible to see what happened to Ringer with her father, she was amazing, her parts were intense and so good. We found out a bit about who she was and where she came from allowing us to understand her as a character. Grace was a new character we had, and I hated her so much. What she did to Poundcake was so nasty, I'm so glad she's dead, but I have a feeling she somehow survived the explosion. Then with Evan, how she was forcing herself upon him. That girl just has to go completely.
The ending with Ringer had me so shocked. I loved Razor, I loved how their friendship grew and how they secretly made a plan together. When they escaped I was cheering them on, panicking when Ringer fell from the plane and then he betrayed her. I was so mad with him. The ending. Did anyone see that plot twist coming? Because I didn't. What a way to twist things, having the silencers believe they're aliens but really they're human. Evan Walker is a human believing he's an alien, what? So is there even any aliens or are we dealing with a Government that's trying to restart the human race? Well at least we know everyone's alive in the end or on the run, everyone a part from Teacup, but I think she's alive.
I think in the next book were going to have Ringer trying to save Teacup and finding the others. I think she's going to go and get Evan for Vosch, but then change her mind and take down Vosch with Cassie, Ben and Evan. I really hope we see Razor again and Ringer ends up with him. But who is Ben going to end up with? Who knows. I can't wait for the next book!
