Review:
We've skipped 8 months into the future. The Republic is slowly healing, the treaty is believed to have caused peace between the Republic and the Colonies, and Day and June haven't spoken to each other since the goodbye. It's a somewhat happy start (forgetting Day is dying and how I was never happy reading the book knowing that) until the plague has spread to the Colonies, threatening war.
Day's brother, Ethan, is believed to be the only one to have the cure, to stop the war. As Day and June are reunited, we see how they still feel for each other and work together to stop the war, with Day refusing them to use Ethan.
Like the other books: Champion offers that same action packed adventures between Day and June as we follow them as they try to stop the war from happening. With the gripping emotional storyline with Day, we are left watching his days run out, fearing the end of the book. Mare Lu took the road like other Dystopian novels, like Mockingjay, The Maze Runner and a hint of it in Allegiant. If you've read it then you know what I'm talking about. It was an annoying end, I'll have to admit, I would have rather it end like Romeo and Juliette. However, over another time gap of 10 years, everything comes to a conclusion with a somewhat emotional happy ending for our characters.
Robyn.
